Theme 26: Set Sail Upon an Ocean of Freedom

ANNOUNCEMENTS: After noon today, I will not really be around till Monday. So, if it takes a bit for your comment to appear or you send an email and do not get a response right away that is why. Happy Fourth!!

How you choose to interpret the theme is completely up to you. It simply needs to be tasteful – no pornography or messages of hate here. When you sit down to create, you cannot think about how people will or will not receive your work. You are required to simply enjoy the act of creating.

Freedom is the oxygen of the soul. ~Moshe Dayan

As we prepare to celebrate the men and women who sailed across the ocean in search of a better life and who fought for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, it is impossible not to contemplate freedom. In this theme, we celebrate the freedom to create what is in our heart.

First, create something that incorporates the colors - red, white and blue.

Second, embrace the idea of individual freedom. Face a fear you have ...something that prohibits you from creating something you truly want to create. Fight the fear each time it tries to take hold and create that piece that is a celebration of YOU! Make it a gift to you and to the world. Either way, send fear sailing!

We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it. ~William Faulkner

Freedom is the will to be responsible to ourselves. ~Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols, 1888

We have a natural right to make use of our pens as of our tongue, at our peril, risk and hazard. ~Voltaire, Dictionnaire Philosophique, 1764

natasha,

thanks for a great theme this week. it is such a great reminder of what july 4th is really about. i think that can get lost sometimes in all of the fun activities a summer day can bring. my husband is in the navy, and although i have been lucky to keep him home with us most of the time, we have many close friends that have had to leave their families for months at a time, and put themselves in harms way, to help protect the freedoms that we have.

i am so excited for this theme. this better be the week that i can play again!!

Happy 4th to you all. Also thinking of our own 14th...
Not sure I can make it for next week, but I'll definitely want to be in the mini-monthly if I can't.
