Participant Inspired Theme 15: Landscape of the Soul

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Due to an unexpected situation, I will be out of town but please know I will respond to emails as soon as I can.

Early next week, I will be providing information along with a time and date for the forum discussion about the upcoming project with the Second Grade class. I look forward to seeing you.

Welcome to the 2nd Participant Inspired Theme designed by Amanda, creator of Persistent Green. Amanda is a continual inspiration to me and I know from many of the weekly comments, she is an inspiration to you as well. Her willingness to take risks with her art and truly open herself has led to the creation of phenomenal pieces of work that stir the imagination and inspire. This week's theme is no exception. I think it is exceptional! I am truly excited to see what everyone will create!

Remember, how you choose to interpret the theme is completely up to you. It simply needs to be tasteful – no pornography or messages of hate here. When you sit down to create, you cannot think about how people will or will not receive your work. You are required to simply enjoy the act of creating. Please see the bottom of this post for how to submit a response.

"The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." ~Marcel Proust

"Landscape with Butterflies" by Dali

"There is an eternal landscape, a geography of the soul; we search for its outlines all our lives." ~Josephine Hart

"Mediterranean Landscape," by Picasso

"The landscape you grow up in speaks to you in a way that nowhere else does." ~Molly Parker

Important Guidelines

The work submitted must be something you have created and/or worked on between the time the theme was revealed and the Thursday unveiling. Please submit your response to Natasha@creativenachos.com no later than end of day Wednesday, April 22nd if you would like it to be posted on Thursday, April 23rd. OR send me a link to your response to include in the comments section of the post.

With your response please include:

1. Your name - either first name, shop name or both.

2. The name of your piece (if you choose to give it one)

3. Something you'd like to share (process of creation, idea behind piece) if you'd like to share anything

4. The shop and/or blog links you'd like to include

5. Two photos of your piece or of each of the pieces (3x5 or 4x6 and 72dpi or a max of 96dpi - if you need any help with that please don't worry I'd be happy to help!)

Most importantly, allow yourself to roam along the creative landscape and uncover true beauty! Enjoy yourself :)

I will be doing more Participant Inspired themes. If you would like to submit an idea, please send an email to Natasha@creativenachos.com.

Thank you again, Amanda, for such incredible inspiration. I can't wait to play and really can't wait to see what everyone creates!

oh my . . . this prompt is already calling to me. It's a heady mix of groundedness and freedom, bounded yet limitless. I have NO inklings yet as to what might result artistically, but I am going to do my very best to answer the call fearlessly.(See Amanda's blog for some recent encouragement to make friends with your fears--or at least, that's the path I'm taking with her ideas)

Great theme indeed!
As I am away in the country, away from my tools and stuff, chances are my contribution will be a photo - so many landscapes to choose from, here... Making up one's mind is the toughest part!

Oh and I forgot— it's so wonderful you chose a Van Gogh for this post— I love this one, but ever since I first set eyes on "Corn field with cypresses", I have had it in my life. I currently have it as a framed print in my living-room (and a fridge magnet too, just to make sure), and being able to mind-dive into it, at will, feels like I have this magicresteva window in my flat...

Dear Natasha - That sounds a bit scarey - I so hope everything is ok in your world.

Oh - I can think of a dozen ideas right off the top of my head for this one! Will they work, will they get done, will pictures get done and sent? Hopefully all of the above! I will send photos for the mini-monthly - have to redo the pics 1st.

Take care dear Natasha.

Natasha, thanks again for allowing me to create this week's theme. I'm so excited! I hope everything's okay with you and your family and that your trip goes well.

I just blogged (at my personal blog and also on ByHand) about creating this theme and encouraging people to come check it out... hopefully we might get some traffic from that. :)

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Hm, this is a deep and interesting theme... I am up to my ear lobes getting ready for an art fair. Maybe I can make something that will work for both!
