Theme 22: And then there was music....

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Bird will be in NYC next week so she put some feelers out to see if anyone would be around to play. It turns out that Jenjen and I will be here. Sooo, if you are going to be in NYC on Wednesday and would like to get together please come and play. We'd love to meet you!! Please contact me for details :)

Our very own talented artist, Felicia Kramer has gone and done it! She had Another Bright Idea!! That's right, she started her own blog!! YAY!!!! It's fabulous - you have to check it out. Please visit http://www.feliciakramer.blogspot.com/. Leave a message, become a follower and, most importantly, have fun!

How you choose to interpret the theme is completely up to you. It simply needs to be tasteful – no pornography or messages of hate here. When you sit down to create, you cannot think about how people will or will not receive your work. You are required to simply enjoy the act of creating.

We have spent time exploring our creative responses to both images and words, so this week, I'd like to try something a little different. I'd like to use a different sense and see what creative magic it stirs within. I first heard this piece in the film Ocean's Eleven and fell in love with it.

Here is the rule for this theme. You may listen to this piece a million times while you do everything from straighten up your studio to creating BUT for the first listen, you MUST do one thing.

Please sit back in a comfortable seat, click play, close your eyes and just listen....really listen...not with your ears but with your mind, body, heart and soul. Let the music stir your thoughts and emotions. Erase all limits and let yourself dream or remember or feel or ...whatever you want. Repeat this process as many times as you like....create from that space inside of you.

Important Guidelines

The work submitted must be something you have created and/or worked on between the time the theme was revealed and the Thursday unveiling. Please submit your response to Natasha@creativenachos.com no later than end of day Wednesday, June 10th if you would like it to be posted on Thursday, June 11th. OR send me a link to your response to include in the comments section of the post.

With your response please include:

1. Your name - either first name, shop name or both.

2. The name of your piece (if you choose to give it one)

3. The name of the theme you chose

4. Something you'd like to share (process of creation, idea behind piece) if you'd like to share anything

5. The shop and/or blog links you'd like to include

6. Two photos of your piece or of each of the pieces (3x5 or 4x6 and 72dpi or a max of 96dpi - if you need any help with that please don't worry I'd be happy to help!)

Most importantly, let the music move through you, let it tickle your imagination and invite your hands, your mind, your entire being to create!

The music doesn't seem to be working for me. Which song is it so I can track it down?
Thanks!

I'm really, really interested to see what effect music has on creation and what it will move people to create....what do you think? Do you think it will be similar to images and words? Or different...I'm excited

I've got it now! Beautiful piece, I feel like I've heard it somewhere else before but I can't quite place it.
Great idea for this theme I think it's really going to take a lot of us out of our comfort zones!

Meghann - first it's wonderful to see you here...and second you are so right...I LOVE the idea of music letting your soul feel free...I can't explain it...it just reaches into the center of my chest and does something, causes me to feel something I honestly cannot explain.....

I love your work and your shop Meghann and I sincerely hope this inspires you to share a piece this week...no pressure...just know we'd love to see you here more :)

Thanks for the plug for my blog, Natasha. And thanks to you and Jen for being my first followers!

Now, I have to tell you - I'm laughing like crazy listening to Claire deLune. Why? This is one of MY ALL TIME FAVORITES. I'm laughing because others haven't always shared my love. I used to have it playing with my computer screen saver at one of my previous jobs. Finally, the woman in the next office begged me to take it off because it was driving her crazy! Also, I have two nephews and a niece who are award-winning piano players who will play almost anything I ask for, but they won't play Claire for me because THEY HATE IT! So I'm happy to finally have someone who shares my love for the piece. Thanks!

lolo I read the title on the way down to the comments - I don't like a lot of classical music - but this is one I do like! We shall see what it inspires!

Wish I could be in NYC to meet up with all of you that do!

this is a beautiful piece of music. i have heard it before, but never really thought too much about it really. i took your advice, and just listened...closed my eyes, laid back, soaked it in. and, as i was listening, images just started coming into my mind. i truly hope that i will have time this week to put some of these images to good use!

thanks for the inspiration natasha!
