Phenomenal Artists Celebrate the Best of Dr. Seuss By Taking You to Their Own Magic Places

Please forgive my delay in getting this up. This week was one of the craziest, overwhelming weeks I've ever had! I didn't even get my piece finished and I know that several other artists didn't get a chance to finish for various reasons so you can expect to see a Mini-monthly soon with more Seuss.

This theme was inspired by the lovely and talented Trina, creator of Woven Chains Jewelry. Thank you Trina for inviting all of these amazing, professional artists to share the incredible magic within them as they celebrate the best of Dr. Seuss.

Now, journey with me and wonders you will see...

Felicia Kramer, creator of Another Bright Idea, created this gorgeous piece titled, “Finding time”.

"I don’t know how many times a day I find myself saying, “I have to find the time to do that.” Sometimes the to-do list seems insurmountable, but I usually do find the time," said Felicia. "So I guess I share Dr. Suess’s “irrepressible belief in what is possible.”

Amanda, creator of Persistent Green, created this unforgettable mixed media art journal page, "Soul Traveler."

"Trina, thanks so much for this theme!" said Amanda. "Honestly, I was really stumped at first, until I decided to start playing with colors and shapes...then the phrase just popped into my head. I love the idea of traveling the roads of the soul, so thanks for helping me reach this destination!"

Trina, creator of Woven Chains Jewelry, created this exceptional piece.

"First, thanks so much for letting me be the one to choose this weeks theme," said Trina. "What a pleasure! I am so totally excited to see what you all have come up with. I decided to "go" somewhere I've never gone with wire work...instead of manipulating rings, I bent wire into a spiral, and then textured it with a hammer (I never realized how satisfying all that pounding would be). Then I embellished the spiral with words that are meaningful to me -- Teach, Live, and Wish -- as well as a Dragonfly. There's just a bit of chainmaille hiding in there, too."

Maureen, a talented artist, created this sensational 11x14 watercolor.

“AnnieMae is excited about the places she might go: toward radiant sunshine? an urban landscape? toward a brick wall which might be obstacle, or opportunity?" said Maureen. "This 11x14 watercolor is a page in the journal Maureen is using for the splendiferous on-line art course she is taking, taught by none other than the magnificent Miss TST herself, aka Natasha."

After viewing this incredible, unique TST are you ready to challenge yourself to create something new??

Well, the next theme is.........."Blue Sky". In celebratin of blue skies that will be coming to us soon (please Spring!) this theme requires that you use some blue and maybe a few wisps of white. Imagine you are laying back looking up at the sky...relax, breathe and celebrate warmth and peace within :)

Felicia--I LOVE the swirls of color here. Makes me truly feel time swirling around . . and hands are one of my very favorite "objects"----I can just feel the person attached to that hand, pondering. . feeling possibilities open up.

Amanda--these colors blow me away!! I don't remember you working with quite this color palette before. It's really strong. And the black lines on the white and red really make them stand out. And then the thought: "soul traveler"--I LOVE it.

Trina--I really love this piece. I can see you hammering the spiral!! I love that the spiral isn't perfectly symmetrical--what in life is????? This piece is a beautiful blend of elements.

Natasha--just a note--if people are gonna search and find this prompt, it would probably help if Dr. Seuss's name is spelled correctly :) :)

Felicia! I love the colors you chose for this piece just as I love the Roman numerals and hand. I love that this piece is warm, subtle and yet incredibly powerful.

Amanda - these colors truly work for you. This piece jumps off the page and hugs you. Soulful Traveler - I long to be one. Great work.

Trina - I want this, I want this, I want this. I LOVE everything about this piece from the style of it - the gorgeous spiral to the words. I LOVE it!!

Maureen - AnnieMae is so playful in this piece. The colors are beautiful - there is something here that makes me think of Seuss and the Wizard of Oz. What fun. Stupendous work

Ahhh, the anticipation made this week's reveal even sweeter!

Felicia, you had such a delicate touch here (no pun intended)--this makes me think a little of Dali, too. Great work.

Trina, thanks again for this prompt! Loved it. Your piece this week is really enchanting. I love how it looks like a little flower (with the dragonfly wings as leaves).

Aqua, thanks for the sweet comments! I've been trying to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to color combinations. Your AnnieMae adventure this week is so sweet and uplifting. I'd like to see her face again, too! :)

Tash: thanks, hon! Here's hoping your next week unfolds peacefully and with much less chaos. Sending hugs & love.

And blue sky--I love it! Can't wait to play again.

I was *so* close to finishing my entry in time! But after seeing these entries I find myself inspired to create something completely different all over again.
Felicia- It reminds me of Dali, kind of dreamy and with the clock theme :) Love the detail of the background.
Amanda-It's so vibrant :) Love it! The color choices fit really well.
Trina-I love your theme! Wings have always been an important symbol for me (in fact, I have a butterfly tattoo lol) for living life freely. You do amazingly detailed work.
Maureen- I love that she isn't quite sure where life will lead her next, that's the exciting part!

I'm just popping in - have to eat something and then get to sleep - want to say - they are all great! what a fun theme!
blue skies - oh would be so nice - we had such a grey day and hail, sleet, snow, and cloudy off and on the past few days - ready for those blue blue skies! and SUN!

Sorry I'm so late in responding to this. As I said in a blog post, between TST and the writing course, Natasha owns me right now!

Thanks for the nice comments about my piece. I am much more comfortable with this kind of work as opposed to last week's chaotic, busy "orange." Lesson learned, I guess.

Amanda - soul traveler: love it!
Trina, I like this piece a LOT. It looks substantial and delicate at the same time to me.
Maureen - I'm on that journey with AnnieMae and you. You'll both do just fine on the journey.

I'm sorry to be tardy to my comments this week (and totally AWOL last week -- the first set got lost and I just couldn't get back -- I loved everything, BTW), I don't think I even looked at my computer this weekend. First time for that in a million years!

Thanks to everyone for playing with my theme. I love Dr. Suess. His books are my all time favorites, and I just love the way he looks at life. Rose is reading "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins" out lout to me every evening and loving every minute of it (it is scary that I just know when she misses a word.)

Felicia, your work brought tears to my eyes. I loved the expression of all that is possible in the time-piece and the numbers. I also love the colors and the movement. It is beautiful.

Amanda, yours was the perfect compliment to Felicia's, as it brought a huge smile to my face. You have such a way with words, with the descriptions for pieces. Soul Traveler is perfect. And the colors are great, too. Very "Seussian".

Maureen, Can I come and live in AnnieMae's world for just a little while? It seems so soft and lovely and kind and loving and wonderful. I'd like that right now. I love that AnnieMae has so many choices, maybe she can explore them all?

Thanks to you all for your wonderful feedback. It was fun to try something new. I'll see you all Thursday.
