Wow, this is a great question, with a long story from me attached...

Thanksgiving used to be my favorite holiday. And super close to my birthday (so the two always got totally tied up together and just fed off of one another to make each other better). Now, due to some very unpleasant memories, I need a new favorite holiday, and its really hard to unravel my birthday from all of those yucky memories.

So, I could easily skip my birthday, and I'm taking suggestions on a good new favorite holiday.

Thanks for letting me share.

Trina - I love this story and I'm partial to Christmas...I love the coziness and presents....hehehe...hmmm, what about July 4th that's always fun with fireworks and sunshine...or wait, maybe we should make a new one!!???

Because of the religion I was raised in I didn't celebrate my birthday or any holidays until my early 30's - I've been making up for it ever since!! So I think I'm all "skipped" out!!

Elsiee!! Welcome...I LOVE that you've been making up for it...I think that means you should take part in creating a whole new holiday...what do you say?? Trina, Elsiee, Erica - are you in...what should we call it?? All I know is that it needs ALOT of chocolate to go along with it LOL

OOOOOHHHH, I am so working on this new holiday idea.....

Rose suggested to me that I pick one of the "off-beat" holidays like President's Day or Flag Day to be my favorite, because not very many people like those.

For our new holiday, I'm with you on the chocolate, but when should we have it? I'm voting for summer, so we can go swimming.

Trina - see I was with Rose I thought of that but those aren't as fun you know. Ask Rose what she thinks should be in the new holiday too...IM SOOO in for summer..ok so far we have summer, chocolate and I think it should be an all day affair so can we have twinkling lights strung all around at night?

I've skipped Christmas before, and I think I could handle it again. . . . since I take every cold day as an excuse to cuddle up by a fireplace with hot cocoa or coffee and knit, I celebrate the season exactly how I'd like to just about every day in winter :) But I don't think I could ever miss my birthday. Having a day revolve around me is just too essential hehe :)

Frenzy - I love that each day of winter is like Christmas! That makes me smile and I dig the whole birthday thing too :)

Think i have to go with Erica on this one and skip my birthday! :) I love the idea of starting a NEW holiday- summer, chocolate, all day so we can have lights- all you need are some presents!

I could easily skip my birthday. Holidays are harder now that I have kids. Although, my kids get so much at Christmas from all our family that I would like to skip Christmas for a year or too. The toy box is overflowing.

Kristen!!! YAY!!! It's so good to see you here :) LOL...you made me laugh about your birthday...presents are a DEFINITE - what else should be have??

Jodi - so awesome to see you back! How are you?? I was laughing at the toy box - with a new one on the way here I'm scared to think about how much the toy box will grow (insert scary music here)

I'll gladly skip my birthday, especially if it means I don't get a year older! I don't get presents anyway...

I love Christmas, so I don't want to give that up. And yes, I do get presents for Christmas!

I'd be willing to skip my b day if I managed not to age. It's so close to christmas anyway that I think I'd be fine without the presents.

I like presents too, but even my parents don't remember my birthday so I usually am just bummed out when no one calls. Adam is pretty good though, so I know I will always at least get flowers from him.

Felicia - you made me howl! I'd skip a year too LOL - no presents when is your b'day?

Sal!! Where have you been?? Again another LOL here - I agree with the whole skip a year/no age thing. It's near Christmas so do people do that "combine" thing?

Erica - what? People forget? Nooo way.. Tell me when your b'day is ...Adam rocks!

I have to agree with the skipping the birthday esp if I can skip aging for a year - or more!!! Mine is also close to Christmas - I've thought of changing my birthday to June 1st - I do admit tho that there have been a few times that Christmas & birthday present(s) got combined to one really nice item or set of something - so in a way it has it's benefits - but most of the time, people are broke, partied out, and pooped out after the holidays anyway. I have too much fun at Christmas and Halloween with the kids I couldn't skip those!! I've had enough birthdays tho!!
