Today, I have reached a new level of frustration in building the site. So I am going to turn to you for help. What do you do when you get frustrated with a project? Do you step away and come back later? How do you clear your head?
Pretty much just do something utterly random and happy for a little while. It clears the nastys out of my brain for a while so I can come back refreshed. Try looking up the Mean Kitty Song on You Tube. ;)
Good, you're already going what I was going to suggest--walk it out. That usally goes a long way to clearing out the mental cobwebs.
Other options: put on a fast-paced song and dance around. Breathe deeply (or scream into a pillow). Eat something really bad for you. Practice "laughing yoga" (seriously, have you ever seen videos of this guy? You WILL feel better).
And most importantly: remember we love you and are SO grateful for all you are doing for us!!
Yep, I agree with Salvaged. Walk away and go do something else. It will feel better when you come back fresh and you will enjoy the process better. There might be a reason for it not to happen this second! :) It's happening with me a lot right now because I have so much going on...Lol, that's why I'm here getting my STT fix! But i feel better now, so it's back to work... Hi/bye everyone - can't wait to see the kids project! Janie
Oh, I have to agree. Walk away. Far away from it. I personally like a really strong latte, but sometime a good run does it too. Anything that will clear your head.
I usually eat something with sugar, turn some peppy-beat music on really loud, sing badly at the top of my lungs, and basically go wild until the sugar wears off. But, ya know, that's just me :)
I agree with all the suggestions, and I especially favor the loud music and wild dancing!! and the long hard fast walk is really good, as long as you come home again afterwards!!!
well, it seems like everyone has really good advice so far. and, i agree with all of it...walk, junk food, loud music, etc...even start a new project - something completely different. most of all, no matter what you decide to do, remember that you are doing a great job, and that we appreciate all that you do for us! you are awesome!
That's how I'm feeling about painting lately, and other things. I think I'm going to take a break from it and work on my novel a little.
We don't always have the luxury to stop doing something, though, sometimes we have deadlines and responsibilities. I decided that the only deadlines were self imposed, so I don't need to struggle miserably. I can give it a rest and recover my inspiration by doing something new.
I pretty much agree with everyone else - go out, get your Ipod, dance to the tune(don't care who's watching lol), or just do the zen-walk...it's nice and warm today so relax and grab a Mike's Hard Lemonade or a Chocolate Souffle ...and then take a nap.
OR - get your little princess, grab some paint brushes and just doodle, dance, and do cartwheels! (just make sure you dont have paint in the paintbrush when you cartwheel or else you'll be upset cleaning up the mess -lol)
Awesome suggestions! I'm w/Jodi - a strong coffee and a run (although, really a jog for me! haha) with some seriously peppy music on my iPod works for me. :)
You guys are AMAZING...I'm not kidding...simply amazing...I don't have the time I SOOO want right now but will be responding a little later as I want to share more just know these suggestions did wonders..and Amanda I HOWLED when I watched that video...seriously and Salvaged I CANNOT get that Mean Kitty song out of my head...I can't even handle that it exists ...love it all
Sometimes when I'm frustrated, I just cry. It helps get the emotion out so that I can start thinking about a solution to what I'm frustrated about.
I also tend to turn to chocolate. Even though chocolate cannot really take frustration away, it provides a nice sugar comma for awhile, until I can get my act together! :)
I'm a little late responding, but what I do is remind myself of the saying "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." That makes me back off from what is frustrating me and try something entirely different or opposite. And like most everyone else, I usually sort all that out during a walk.
I agree, take a well deserved break-nature helps. Get out and drive or take a nice long walk in a park. I used to go running when I was frustrated, now that I can't, I've found any other form of exercise/movement works as well.
I wanted to take a moment to say thank you....ALL of you helped me. This weekend I took a little time to catch up with myself - I took walks, I re-evaluated what I was doing, I played, I listened to music, I spent time in nature, I spent time with family and friends, I just let myself be for awhile and returned feeling rejuvenated and ready to work hard to bring more to life...thanks to all of you I had many options for clearing my head and just being ..me...thank you from the bottom of my heart for the gift of your words and inspiring thoughts...if I can ever do the same just holler. I'll be right here...thank you, you creative, amazing, magical souls ")

Thanks Salvaged I'm going to do that as soon as I get back from a headclearing walk....I can't wait to see that Mean Kitty song

Hope the walk helps. A buddy and I call those brain breaks. They're nice. Mean kitty will get stuck in your head though. :)

Sending happy thoughts your way.
Greetings!
I'm w/the others - step away and do something different, whether it's take a total break, or simply work on another project.
Hope it's working out! :-)

PS - Captcha = breal. As in 'Be real'. Good advice for any time, but particularly good for frustrating times, I think. :-D
